Magazine: Draft 1
My magazine will be in a format very similar to Marie Claire.
It will have a short introduction followed by question and answer format relating to the show and the actress
My Magazine
Taking all this research in, I have to develop a new brand identity for my magazine.
Audience is the most important aspect to consider as my TV shows aims to capture a younger audience than that of Marie-Claire. It seems that a clean, mature look is often presented as being anti-millennial. Indeed, even with my analysis of Marie-Claire, I'm guilty of coming to the conclusion that the non-clustered feel, with an elegance means that I did some reading to find out how professionals have decided to cater to the millennial age group in the print format.

Title
Following the precedent of Marie-Claire magazine, I will also use a french girl's name for my magazine. I can always make up some significance for the magazine.
I looked on a french baby names website and found a few names that I thought might work as a magazine name.
Madeleine
Marie-Lise
Ellie-Rose
Rosine
Ally
Elise
Marin
Maëlys
It was not particularly easy trying to decide which name should be the one, but I settled on Madeleine. To me, it seems to have a similar sort of sophistication that Marie-Claire has, but it also has a younger aura to it, maybe perhaps as I know it's a name that's making a comeback these days. It's not too short, and it's still decidedly European. It also serves as a reference to Proust, whose metaphor about dipping into nostalgia in his book "À La Recherche du Temps Perdu" when eating a Madeleine cake can be used as a purpose and direction for the magazine.
Design
I want to follow a design very similar to Marie-Claire, and fortunately this was not too hard. Their design is very similar to other female magazines. For my magazine I was particularly inspired by the soft, flat look of the December 2016 edition featuring Ruth Wilson. The design with Jodie Whittaker was still on my mind, and I took a few cues from that in regards to the titles. This is my first draft:

Millennials are tech-savvy; that much is for sure. Having grown up in an environment heavily emphasising online connectivity, these digital natives are shifting away from traditional media, choosing to spend more time on their mobile phones, engaging with social media, and consuming video content.I think one of the best ways I can link to the millennial audience while still retaining a mature and clean look is using social media. By making it clear that this magazine is strongly linked to social media, it will position the magazine as accessible to the 18yro+ audience.

Be Authentic. Use Print. Connect Mobile. This quote is the recommendation from this market research document. While it focuses on providing information for marketers, they make it clear that millennial audiences continue to enjoy the printed format but especially enjoy having the magazine be online connected.

Good so far. A few tweaks needed but lots of potential here.
