Preparing to write my Aims and Intentions

How I will respond to the brief to create a cross media production, applying knowledge and understanding of the theoretical framework.

Aims and Intentions

Media Language

Aims: To create a high quality, well produced, crime drama TV programme extract.

Intentions: I will include features of Crime drama, as demonstrated by TV shows like Broadchurch, which includes the use music and character tensions. I will use a variety, but not excessive amount, of shots, with a range of camera work techniques, as well as thinking about artificial lighting and post production add-ons.

Representation

Aims: Within the small group of characters, to try to represent a range of people, of different social backgrounds and different genders, and perhaps ethnic backgrounds.

Intentions: I will recruit a cast from within our Hills Road enrichment drama department, but I will be placing talent and skill first in how I choose the cast.

Audience

Aims: To cater to a millennial audience, between the ages 18 and 35.

Intentions: Include a cast that roughly represents the millennial social group, and the drama will include their interactions with issues that millennial are concerned about; for example, their place in society. Also the magazine will be written and designed in the style of other millennial magazines,  in a sophisticated style.

Industry Context

Aims: To follow a style similar to other crime dramas- such Broadchurch but have a fresh feeling with the added genre-hybrid appeal, so basically applying repetition and difference formula.

Intentions: I intend to create a multi-genre hybrid, mixing together crime, horror and Sci-fi. The idea of mythical creatures in traditional 9pm drama hasn't been explored, so it will be something viewers aren't expecting, because the style will be similar to the traditional dramas such as Broadchurch. This will mean that it's a show that takes itself seriously, and has a generally sombre tone.
