Making a storyline

The video I am making will be "a key turning point" of the overall drama. To make my drama part of a coherent story line, which it needs to be if has to fit into the ITV schedule, I decided to some background research to see what kind of characters I can create.

Firstly, I've mentioned before how I want my cast to play characters that are within their age range. Since most of the cast I'll be able to get is either 17 or 18, the characters all need to be under the age of 20. Unsure of how I could fit a Police character in, I decided to look into what it takes to be a police officer. According to this website, you can start training at 18, take 2 years of training before taking up a place at around age 20. This means that my character has to be some sort of trainee officer.

Update 1:
Only a few weeks later(!), I'm back with a plot. I've realised I don't need a visible police officer character. I've developed an idea, which is a bit out there but easily adaptable.

The plot is a detective who is a werewolf, but is not aware of it. He is investigating a case but he does not know he is the killer in question. As the plot progresses however, it becomes more and more evident to him that he is the killer, and the final part of story will be how he deals with this revelation and what happens to him.

Update 2:
I'm changing somethings around to make it an adaptation of that story line, because I want to be as realistic as possible. The main character will be a teenage boy. who has the same werewolf characteristics as in the original storyline. His character will be the killer. The plot will be such that while there is a police investigation going on, he is slowly realising that he is the person who killed his friend.

Of course, I can't film all the plot, but I thought it was important to flesh out a complete story line which then I could split apart and create a story for the 3 minutes I am filming.

Update 3:
I've got a solid idea of what I want to film. There's bit of inspiration from all over, and I think it hits a lot of generic conventions of Crime/Horror drama. This is how I am visualising the story in my head so far.

Open

Opening scene is someone walking along. it's dark. Moonlight. We see it from a first person view. Night vision view, green and gray. It becomes an attack scene. Quick and punchy. We see claws. We see scared looks. The person is being killed. Screams. End.

Flash Titles. Quick & fast paced.

The first scene is a body being discovered by Detectives. Dark, hidden, flashlight scene, so we don't have to see the Detective. Red. Fake blood.

Cut to full moon= hints at werewolfiness, but not too explicitly- this is something we see in crime drama normally. Moon graphic matches to a bright set of blinds.

The protagonist is waking up from bed. Ripped shirt. Bits of fur around. Unexplained and confused. He's dazed. He goes to wash their face. Brushing teeth, but gets fleshy bits out of mouth. He's not sure what's going on, but he brushes it off.

Cut to him entering a living room. Female friend (girl friend or friend?) is watching TV. They're a bit worried. He came back late. Drunk? Drugs? Where is his fur jacket? Has he got into a fight? He can't remember. Note: This isn't a domestic argument. She tells him to be careful out there. Goes back to TV. Then she asks him where >Dead Person's Name< is, and if he saw him that night? He says he doesn't remember. Phone rings.

Police: Is there where dead person lives? He's dead.We need you to come to the police station.

The End

I will develop this further in my upcoming storyboard and script posts.
