Locations

While I wrote my plot to be some what location neutral, meaning that it can be adapted to wherever I am able to film, the location that I have in my mind within a woods. The tension and peace of the natural environment is beautiful, in my mind, for the feel that I want my show to have.

I went location scouting and a nature reserve just near my house has proved to be a wonderful and visually dynamic location. I found it while browsing satellite images of the area surrounding my house.

I set up a few shots, working with a friend as a model. The images below are colour adjusted to reflect what might be the colour space of the final project, as well being cropped into 16:9.

Shallow depth of field shots like this would be great to introduce our main character, with a focus pull.

An example of what the shot where Eve will be running through the woods will look like.

Could possibly have a scene where Eve looks into the camera?

I love the clash of the concrete and the trees, a fight between nature vs man,; nature has reowned the concrete poles.

A few more examples of what the shots of Eve through the woods will look like.

For the scene where the girl is on the phone, visuals such as the 4 above this caption are what I am aiming for. As well as being symbolic (the thorns for example, associated with  sin or sorrow- semiotics) they're visually engaging and prevent the viewer from seeing the person completely.

For the scene where the girl is running, her running through this path, or something similar to this could be very appealing.

I simulated a few shots where we could see the character running.

I love the light that comes through the leaves. It's very cinematic, and makes good use of the location. It accentuates the feeling of being lost in a forest.

Some more shots experimenting with the effect of the sunlight coming through the leaves.

An extreme close-up like this might be useful to have in the beginning to connect the viewer to Eve's struggle.

This space is a great place to have the body, or for the character Blake to hide

Could have a shot like this where someone enters the area where the body will be

I'm imagining a shot like this, and the two above, to be shown for how the characters will be grieving Neil.

An over the shoulder shot, similar to what might be done in the confrontation scene
A few shots from a worms eye view might be unsettling for within the confrontational scene

I like this shot  possibly for within the confrontational scene. It subverts expectation and is therefore unsettling, as we usually expect an image to framed differently.

This deck is where I'm imagining the majority of the confrontation to take place. The "body" will be spread out on the deck. There is a very mystical feel to the top of the deck, especially given the surrounding foliage.

The other main location will be a kitchen. I will be using my own kitchen, as it will be too much hassle to find a kitchen that perfectly fits my vision for a kitchen in the project.
