Today's filming went really well. We started filming around 9:40am in the morning, and we ran till 12:10pm. We had to replace one of the actors though. The person who played Andrew was not available, so I replaced him with another Drama student. This wasn't a problem and did not interfere with anything I had shot previously, as all his scenes were individual. I simply reshot the scenes today. For main encounter scene, I changed the location from the deck to under a tree. This was much better as there was more space to move the camera around and to direct the actors. It was brighter to film in and also probably a more realistic place for someone to have a picnic. I cut down the number of crew this time as well- we only had 3 crew and 2 cast. This allowed each crew member to do more, and also meant it was easier for me to direct them on what to do. They have all consistently helped me in both the prior shoots so they knew what they had to do, which made things very stress-f...

This time we shot during the same timeframe, but the changing seasons had an effect. The aims for this shoot were to: -film the opening sequence -film the encounter between the two characters over the dead body What I achieved: I refilmed the entire opening scene with more meaningful scene compositions. I am happy with these new shots and I tried my best to make sure they matched my original vision. Here's a test video. What I didn't: The biggest problem we encountered today was the limited time span. We got off to a bad start with terrible traffic on the way to the shoot. We intended to begin filming at 4:30, but it was past 4:45 when we arrived. When we finished the different takes for the opening sequence, all the cast and crew were also tired. When we started filming the scene on the deck location, it was about 5:45. It was getting dark quickly, and unfortunately a few crew members had left, so I had to manage directing and camera work myself- this was hard...

On 4/10/18, I carried out my first shoot. I intended to finish filming the first scene in the forest with the phone call. It was a bright, clear, sunny day and perfect for filming. I had 4 people other than me and Becca, my main actor, helping out. Within the shoot, we changed a few things in the script: 1. The name of the character "Blake" to "Andrew". 2. Experimented with changed dialogue, and while it retains the same core meaning, I removed a few words. The shoot went really well and I got a lot of footage that I wanted. However, when reviewing the footage, I am not completely happy with the end results. I will be re-filming the entire thing as well as the dialogue scenes in one shoot. A lot of the takes, I found, were used to help get my main actor into the character. I will use media language to create an appealing, high quality crime drama.    Using  Steve Neale’s  repetition and difference formula , I  will allow the show to feel familiar yet different enough to be new , hopefully engaging audiences.  I will use genre-hybridity to both meet and subvert expectation, blending aspects of psychological thriller with traditional drama.  The traditional drama format will be embodied in the structure of the show, and the psychological thriller will be conveyed through the tension  and questions raised within the show itself.   A variety of shots, camera movements/techniques will be applied to give the production a well-produced look that would be like what is usually seen on ITV.  I will use dynamic  camera work  to present the cast, such as through trees and leaves, and will use handheld footage for a majority of the film. There are very many risks to my shoot in the forest. I've compiled this list of possible risks, from what I encountered while I was location scouting.
